Division Three
FC Chippenham Youth ‘A’ v Foresters FC
Foresters FC dominance at the top of the table continues as they overcame FC Chippenham Youth ‘A’ by four goals to nil.
A Gary Wilmot brace in the first half secured the interval lead for the Foresters.
The second half then saw them score a further two goals through Gavin Klukowski and Micky Harrison.
Mere Town YDT v Bratton Reserves
Mere Town YDT put their recent poor form behind them to beat Bratton Reserves 5-0. A young sixteen year old Shane Matthews scored a brace to secure the halftime lead.
The second half got better for the youngsters as they scored a further three goals, two from Tom Young and one from Paul Fayer.
North Bradley AFC v Calne Eagles
With the Foresters looking odds-on Champions in Division 3, the game between North Bradley and Calne Eagles was very much about who would be most likely to claim the runners-up spot.
North Bradley took the lead in the first minute when Pete Stephenson swept home the ball from a corner kick.
Calne recovered well and following a good period of play Stu Windsor equalised, when his left-footed shot bobbled over Rob Elliott in the Bradley goal.
In the last 10 minutes of the half, Calne’s usual defensive stubbornness momentarily deserted them and they were made to pay a heavy price.
A collection of uncharacteristic errors saw North Bradley race into a 4-1 lead, with Pete Stephenson (2) and a wonder goal from the inspirational Matt Coles who fired into the top corner following a run which saw him tie the Calne defence in knots.
In the second half, Calne Eagles ignored the score line and looked the most likely team to score.
But the goal that they needed to put pressure on North Bradley did not come until the 78th minute, when impressive substitute Nick Cawley bundled the ball over the goal line from close range.
The game was then held up for 5 minutes.
Both of North Bradley’s two stand-out players, Matt Coles and Craig Brown, were booked by the referee for protesting about a tackle in the build up to Cawley’s goal.
Coles was then shown a straight red card for dissent when he continued with his outburst.
When game the restarted, with tempers flared and tackles flying in, Calne Eagles were unable to force another goal.
In the end, it was North Bradley who scored the game’s final goal, when Pete Stephenson forced the ball past goalkeeper Andy Windsor from close range.
The Stiffs v Steeple Ashton Reserves
The basement clash saw second from bottom The Stiffs play host to rock bottom Steeple Ashton Reserves.
It was the Stiffs who took all three points thanks to a 3-2 win.
Sam Stevens put Ashton in front before a brace from Nathan Litterick gave The Stiffs the lead at half time.
Damien Hateley then made it 2-2 mid way through the second half.
With time running out The Stiffs secured the points with a goal from Christian Player.
