Westbury Town councillor Ian Taylor has resigned from two council committees but has refused to say why.
Cllr Taylor, who was elected to Westbury Town Council in 2007, has resigned as chairman of the Laverton Trust as well as his position on the car parks committee.
In two separate letters to Westbury Town Council clerk, Les Fry, he said: “Please accept my resignation from the committee forthwith.”
But Cllr Taylor has remained on the town centre improvement scheme working group, which has been set up to consider what the council should to do with a £1.3m town centre improvement scheme grant that will be given to the council should the Westbury bypass get the go-ahead.
A decision on the bypass is likely to be made by the government in the spring after a public inquiry at The Laverton last summer.
Cllr Taylor refused to comment on his resignation.
A replacement for both groups will be decided at Westbury Town Council’s annual meeting on May 6.
