A VILLAGE near Bradford on Avon has bought its red telephone box for just £1.
Limpley Stoke became the first village in the south west to officially adopt its box from BT on Wednesday.
The parish council applied to BT’s Adopt a Kiosk scheme to take ownership of the box, in Middle Stoke, to ensure the landmark will stay in the village.
Cllr Simon Coombe, the chairman of the parish council, said: “A red phone box is quite emblematic of England-gone-by so that’s why we were keen to keep ours.”
