Core Soccer is a coaching organisation that works with Southampton Football Club to coach and identify players suitable for trial with Southampton Football Club.

The emphasis is purely on developing the Core Skills for football and giving players maximum opportunities without affecting any of their existing club commitments.

Core Soccer will be setting up an Advanced Development Centre in Warminster, based at Kingdown Community College which will act as a feeder to Southampton FC’s Academy based at the Sports Village at Bath University. Players that show the necessary qualities therefore have the opportunity to trial at the Club.

There are no costs incurred for attendance at the trial or for attendance at the advanced development centre.

Successful players will attend the centre for an initial period of 10 weeks and are continually assessed and feedback is given on areas to work on or improve on. The centres are staffed by fully qualified UEFA license coaches and link directly into the academy system, providing a pathway through for talented players.

The players are made to feel very welcome and are coached in a friendly learning environment which caters for their own individual needs. The technical programme for the development centres run alongside the Academy technical syllabus, so that the players are familiar with what they are being asked to produce in training and matches.

TRIAL TIMES AND DATES The trials will take place at Kingdown Community School, Warminster.

Please arrive 10 minutes early to allow booking in of players Wednesday 4th & 11th March 2009 Time: 5-7pm Under 8’s to 12’s Trials will be held on astro turf so please wear trainers. Players wearing moulded boots or any kind of studded boot will not be permitted to play. Players will also need a drinks bottle, shin pads, and players form.

Please ensure you have phoned through to book your trial as any players not on the list beforehand will not be permitted to play as we are managing the numbers carefully to ensure everyone gets ample opportunity.

What to do now?

The Advanced Development Centre would like to ask club managers and schools to nominate players from their squads or school years to attend the trials. The qualities that the Advanced Development Centre will be looking for are: A very good level of technical ability A receptive attitude to learning and improving Motivation to develop themselves to play at the highest level possible.
