Bromham Reserves deservedly won the first leg of their E J Shanley and Son Limited sponsored-Division Two Cup match against Bradford United 2-1, but were made to fight all the way.
On a bone hard pitch, Bromham elected to play downhill with the sun at their backs in the first half and soon created a glorious chance for Don Powell, who shot wide with only the goalkeeper to beat.
A couple of minutes later a mix-up in the Bradford defence presented Bromham with another easy chance which they failed to take, but after 15 minutes, good work down the left enabled Lee Campbell to hook in a fine shot on the turn.
Bradford gradually came more into the match and missed an opportunity to equalise when Shane Goodship made a fine save, and five minutes before the break saw three shots cleared off the line.
In the second half Tom Paget increased Bromham's lead after 60 minutes with a looping header from close in.
Five minutes later Mark Tyler scored for Bradford with a fiercely stuck free kick from 20 yards and from then on play was from end to end, but Bromham should have increased their lead when James Sandiford was clear through but shot wide.
Frome Town Sports A 3, Broughton FC 0
FROME Town Sports A shook off their poor league form to record their first win of the season as they beat high-flying Broughton 3-0 in their first leg match.
At the midway interval neither team could break the deadlock, but the second half saw a more determined Frome side enter the field and they scored their three goals through Josh Whitcombe and two from Matt Bracher.
