In early October a group of the Friends of Trowbridge Museum were part of the Trowbridge-Leer Twinning Association visit.
Following some initial contacts in 2004, a group from Leer Heimatmuseum came to Trowbridge in 2005 and it was felt that there was a great deal of empathy and shared interest between the two groups.
The Heimatmuseum proposed that a twinning charter between the two museums should be signed at this venue.
This was warmly welcomed by the Trowbridge Friends, who enjoy an excellent rapport with the Heimatmuseum.
The charter was signed by Glyn Bridges, on behalf of the Friends.
The charter reads: “The two museums complement each other on the subject of weaving and the manufacture of fine cloth during five centuries.
“Presenting a vivid exposition on development and history of our towns, we want to keep alive the personal and cultural relationship, fill it with atmosphere and maintain the friendship between our two institutions.”
