Lavington crashed out of the Wilts Junior Cup 4-2 at the hands of Queenstown. Queenstown had raced into a two goal advantage at the halftime interval.

The second period saw a spirited fight back by the home side as they levelled through goals from Myles Hickton and James Campbell, but their defence failed to hold out and they conceded another two goals late on.

Steeple Ashton 2, Oaksey 1 (AET)

The second round of the Wilts cup saw Ashton play Oaksey from The Cirencester and District Football League. Both sides made a nervous start to the match as they both struggled to clear the ball cleanly on St Mary’s famous long grass. Ashton started to make home advantage show with some good attacks down both wings which just lacked the final quality ball into the box. It began to look like Ashton would regret not taking advantage of this good early play as Oaksey began to get more and more into the game. Oaksey then had a goal disallowed when Jones is fouled on his line. The second half started very open with both sides playing good football. Rich Stevens and Lee Frisby were getting lots of ball down their wings and causing Oaksey lots of problems. Ashton then made the breakthrough when a Sam Stevens corner is headed home by Frisby in the 75th minute for a 1-0 lead. Oaksey then hit back seven minutes later when Jones palms the ball out to the feet of the Oaksey forward. With the match now deep into extra time Ashton secure the win with a header from Matt Gurke.

Seend United 3, Stonehenge S.C 0

Seend went in to this game having to make a few changes for the first time this season, top scorer G Higdon and the influential playmaker John Hubbard both ruled through illnesses. Opting to play with the wind behind them in the 1st half Seend put there visitors under the cosh from the start with several near misses most notably from Lee Jackson, and Rikki Gullis. With the visitors looking suspect from set pieces it was skipper Mike Hopkins who put the home team ahead, heading in a superb free kick from Nathan Walker. Seend continued to threaten with Chris Styles and James Eatough giving the visitors defence a torrid time. It was Eatough who doubled the lead just before half time, latching on to a clearance from the keeper and driving home from 25 yards. The game got killed off 10 minutes in to the 2nd half, a great build up led to the prolific Chris Styles tapping home to make it 3-0, this goal seemed to take the wind out of a young well organised Stonehenge team. Seend went on to miss further chances through Dan Griffiths and Styles and limited their opponents to long shots. An excellent result in difficult conditions.
