A pledge that every primary pupil in England will receive free school meals could form part of Labour’s next election manifesto.
The scheme, which would affect around four million children, could cost an estimated £1 billion, and would save each family almost £300 per child every year.
But at the moment it’s only a suggestion - it remains to be seen whether it’s free hot meals, or just hot air.
