Fresh plans for 230 homes on the edge of Chippenham have been submitted after significant opposition.

The major development on the northern edge of Chippenham was granted outline approval last year and will see the redevelopment of land bordering Kilverts Way and the B4069.

The approved scheme will involve the creation of up to 230 dwellings, a drinking establishment, and a hot food takeaway.

Developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes submitted a reserved matters application for the residential portion of the project in July.

The proposed local centre will be brought forward under a separate application.

But the plans outlining the details of the proposed homes on the site have received significant opposition, including from Chippenham Town Council.

Residents already living in the area have previously told this paper they are concerned about increased traffic and a lack of infrastructure to accommodate more houses.

Amended plans for the housing portion of the site have since been submitted, which include resubmitted plans for the design and layout of the scheme, among other changes.

The updated plans are due to be discussed by Chippenham town councillors at a planning committee meeting on Thursday, December 5.

A Wiltshire Council decision on the plans is due by January 24 next year.
