Storm Bert has wreaked havoc across Wiltshire with heavy rain and wind battering the county leaving towns submerged under water.
On Sunday, November 24 Wiltshire was hit by the storm with residents waking up to traffic chaos on Monday, November 25.
Chippenham was one of the worst hit with drone pictures showing the shocking extent of the flooding.
The High Street was submerged by floodwater after the River Avon burst its banks, as was the Bridge Centre Roundabout.
Police have closed off the A4 Avenue La Fleche into the town centre from both directions.
Aerial photos have shown the extent of the deluge.
At the time of writing the town centre remains inaccessible to both pedestrians and vehicles with flood water still submerging the area.
A spokesperson for the force said: “There is no access for vehicles nor persons on foot through Chippenham town centre, Bridge centre or Avenue La Fleche to and from Pewsham.”
A Chippenham Town Council spokesperson added: “Storm Bert has caused the River Avon to burst its banks in Chippenham Town Centre making access to the High Street impossible this morning.
“Flooding on arterial routes into the town has caused severe traffic delays this morning too.
“For the safety of our visitors and staff, we will be closed today, and we will update you further when we have more details.”
Elsehwere Bradford on Avon was hit badly with St Margaret’s Street closed off due to flooding.
Water levels are high on the River Avon at the Town Bridge and flooding has occurred at the Bull Pit and the junction of Silver Street and Market Street.
Flooding has also hit St Margaret Street just before the Town Bridge where the river has burst its banks.
Overhead footage has shown the disruption caused by these flood waters, with drivers spotted trying to navigate the submerged town centre.
Meanwhile the River Biss in Trowbridge has overflowed after a month’s worth of water fell in 48 hours across the UK, and at the time of writing flood warnings remain upstream and downstream of Trowbridge.
The B3105 at Staverton has reportedly been closed following flooding during Storm Bert which has made the route impassable.
But cars have been pictured abandoned after their drivers apparently tried to brave the floodwater throughout Monday, November 25.
Wiltshire Council says it is working hard to tackle disruption caused by the storm.
The council is urging people to check their advice webpage before travelling as multiple road closures remain in place across the county.
The council has also warned people to follow the signage and to not try to drive through floodwater.
