A floating fayre to showcase the crafts skills of people living aboard boats on the Kennet & Avon Canal in Wiltshire is taking place later this month.
The Kennet & Avon Winter Floating Fayre will be staged above and below the Canal Wharf lock and in the West Barn in Bradford on Avon.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, organisers were forced to put back the event to the last weekend in November.
Visitors can expect live music, live demonstrations, home-made food, and a large array of craft products made by the Kennet & Avon Canal boating community.
Laura Darling, manager of the Winter Floating Fayre, said: "The Floating Fayre has been running for eight years and brings people to the canal from far and wide.
“It is a place where skills are shared amongst boaters and the wider community, an exhibition of life on the water, giving visitors from the local area and further afield a deeper understanding of the boating way of life.
“We can't wait to share our talents with you so come along and support small local businesses, get yourself some bespoke hand-crafted Christmas gifts, whilst having a mulled wine, enjoying the live music and soaking up some canalside Christmas cheer."
The Winter Floating Fayre will feature 15 boats and 16 stalls including canal art, hand-thrown pottery, records, paintings and prints, Christmas wreaths and more.
Food and drink on offer will include hedgerow cordials, curries and soups, hot cheese melted over a fire, mulled wine and hot chocolate. There will even be treats available for visitors' four-legged friends.
Laura added: “We will have some live demonstrations, including; a boat signwriter (you can win the sign in a raffle), a traditional blacksmith, a pottery wheel on which you can have a go, tarot and crystal ball readings, and a children’s area where they can do Christmasy crafts and be entertained by Mad Pete the clown.
“As always, there will also be the popular busking stage showcasing the musical talent that there is on the canal.”
The Winter Floating Fayre is being held on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1 from 11am to 4pm each day.
It is organised by the Floaty Boat charity run by boaters for boaters on the Kennet & Avon Canal. The community-driven initiative celebrates the strength, skills, resilience and diversity of nomadic live-aboard boaters.
