The driver of a new Mercedes-Benz E-Class had had their car seized after being caught without tax or insurance.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit stopped the vehicle in a car park opposite a Starbucks Drive-thru to speak to the driver.
When questioned by officers, the driver claimed their family member’s insurance policy allowed them to get behind the wheel.
But this insurance policy did not cover the driver 's personal use of the grey E-Class and as the owner of the vehicle had also failed to tax it, officers were left with no choice but to seize the car.
A Wiltshire Specialist Operations spokesperson said: “Another day, another person trying to pass off a family member’s trade policy as covering their own personal use.
“Also untaxed since nearly-new, this E Class has been seized.”
