Residents have given a mixed response to this year’s Trowbridge Christmas lights display following the switch-on event on Friday, November 15.
More than 5,000 people turned out to watch Trowbridge Town Crier Trevor Heeks, the town’s mayor Stephen Cooper, and mascot Trowbridge Ted switch-on the display to herald the start of the festive season.
The festivities began with The Civic Christmas Market and was followed by a lantern parade and the Christmas lights switch-on and a fireworks display.
A council spokesperson said: “The event, organised by Trowbridge Town Council, was a resounding success, with at least 5,000 people turning out to enjoy the evening.
“This year’s changes to the event, including keeping the parade entirely within the park, ensured a smoother and safer experience for everyone and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees, who appreciated the family-friendly atmosphere.
“Trowbridge Town Council would like to thank everyone who participated in making the lantern parade a success, from the creative lantern makers to the hard-working volunteers and performers.
“The event truly showcased the community spirit of Trowbridge and marked the perfect start to the festive season.”
