A woman has been charged by Wiltshire Police after a car crashed into a lamp post opposite a busy supermarket.

On Wednesday, November 13, police officers were called to Bath Road in Melksham after reports of a crash near to Lidl.

When they arrived, officers found a vehicle which had collided with a lamp post at the Bath Road to A3102 junction.

But the driver of the car was asked to complete a breathalyzer test, she allegedly refused.

The 49-year-old has been released on bail and is due to appear at Salisbury Magistrate's Court on Friday, December 20.

"Drink driving is one of the fatal five offences and we will not hesitate to take robust action against those who break these laws," said PC Langley.
