A ‘truly festive and enjoyable evening for the whole family’ is being promised by the organisers of this year’s Trowbridge Christmas Lights Switch On event.
This year’s switch-on event on Friday, November 15 will be slightly different as it is taking place in the town park rather than Fore Street.
Festivities will begin at 4pm, with the highlights including a spectacular Lantern Parade, the Christmas Lights switch-on, a fireworks display and a Christmas market in The Civic.
The organisers, Trowbridge Town Council, say: “It will be a truly festive and enjoyable evening for the whole family. Enjoy live music from Rock Choir and soak up the festive atmosphere!
“It’s free entry, so gather your family and friends for an unforgettable evening.”

Due to the increasing number of people attending the event and the need to maintain strict health and safety guidelines, the Christmas Lights Switch-On and Lantern Parade will now take place in Trowbridge Park only to allow more people to attend.
“Lights will still be up around the town as in previous years and the switch-on will turn lights on in the town and Trowbridge Park simultaneously,” the council said.
The highlight of the event will be a spectacular lantern parade which starts at 6pm, where a multitude of willow lanterns will be paraded through Trowbridge Town Park.
But please note, the parade will not go into the town centre streets this year.
The display will be accompanied by the captivating beats of a colourful samba band, creating a truly unforgettable spectacle.
Alongside the lantern parade, there will be a range of musical performances, food vendors, and The Civic Christmas Market, which will be bustling with local vendors to add to the festive spirit.
The council added: “Kick off your holiday season at the Trowbridge Christmas Lights Switch-On. Join us for a festive evening and make some great memories with family and friends.”
The timetable is:
4pm – The Civic Christmas Market opens
5.30 – 6pm – Lantern Parade attendees collect battery tealights for their lanterns and line up for the parade
6pm – Lantern Parade around Trowbridge Park only (not in the town, please be aware lighting will be limited around the park until the light switch-on)
6.30pm – Rock Choir musical performance on the stage in the lower park outside of The Civic Centre entrance
7pm – Lights Switch-On and Fireworks with Cllr Stephen Cooper, the Mayor of Trowbridge, the Town Crier Trevor Heeks, and Trowbridge Ted, plus the church bells at St James’ Church.
9pm – The Civic Christmas Market closes.
