Details have been released ahead of a Winter Festival promising to fill a town centre with “joy and excitement” in Wiltshire.
Devizes Outdoor Celebratory Arts has announced that it has received investment from Arts Council England for its Winter Programme, which centres around the town’s annual Winter Festival.
The festival will fully kick off on Friday, November 29, when the town’s Christmas lights will be turned on during an event in partnership with the town council.
This event will continue the theme from the yearly Devizes Carnival, also run by DOCA, which is ‘Home is Where the Heart Is’.
It will feature a number of familiar traditions including the “beautiful” lantern parade, indoor and outdoor Christmas markets, and Window Wonderland, which will continue until December 2.
But there will also be several new elements to the celebrations, including interactive flaming art installations, crafting workshops, and a range of “fun and fascinating” performances.

DOCA spokesperson Annabel Lake said: “I always look forward to putting on the Winter Festival, there are so many parts to it that I feel like there is always something new to discover, whilst still leaning into the unspoilt tradition of the lantern parade.
“Watching people’s faces lit up by their creations, both literally from the lanterns and with joy of being a part of it, creates such a warm feeling in the town on a cold night.
“And continuing the theme of warmth in the cold, this year there's the excitement of flames and music being brought to us by Circus Kinetica's "Disorgan" and the interactive flaming snake heads of Medusa from Paka the Uncredible, alongside the Nowhere Forge where you can see demonstrations or even have a go.
“And if only I wasn't working throughout, I'd definitely be booking into some of the Makery Sessions - there are some really fantastic artists sharing their skills.”
The festivities will begin at 11am when the indoor markets at The Corn Exchange open, with the outdoor markets starting at noon.

The entertainment is then scheduled to build up to the lantern parade which sets off led by Santa at 6.30pm and finishes with a lights show in the Market Place at 7pm.
On the Saturday, there will be festive traders, art installations and music between 10am and 3pm.
In the evening, a show called Crow will be hosted as part of the festival.
Residents can book in for a lantern making workshop or order their make at home kits ahead of time, with information on the DOCA website.
