The design and layout of a residential development set to be constructed on the south-eastern edge of Devizes has been approved.
A reserved matters application for 33 new homes on land north of Marshall Road has been given the go-ahead by Wiltshire Council.
The original application was lodged by NHS Property Services and the council and promised to form “an attractive addition to the south east of Devizes”.

The two-storey buildings will be arranged in terraces or semi-detached pairs, with a few three-storey properties, near the new Devizes health centre.
Wiltshire Council plan to develop the site with 60 per cent social rent homes and 40 per cent shared ownership homes.
The development will provide one four-bed house, nine three-bed houses, 14 two-bed houses and eight one-bed flats.

According to the application, the plan “uses the resources of the site wisely” and reflects “the form and grain of the surrounding context”.
It also says it will provide open green space and promote “sustainable connections “to the town centre of Devizes and facilitates low carbon travel options through EV charging, cycle provision and accessible walking options”.
Finally, it plans to optimise “solar orientation to maximise PV use and minimise overheating” and contribute positively to biodiversity net gain and habitat creation.
