Wessex Water has provided an update on efforts to repair a burst water main that has flooded a busy road.

Parts of Gloucester Road in Malmesbury, near the Co-op supermarket, were submerged in water at around 11.30am on Thursday, October 31.

The flood has caused some issues for drivers throughout the morning with traffic maps reporting some slow traffic in the area.

Residents took to social media to share pictures of the incident.

Wessex Water earlier revealed the flooding had been caused by a water leak and has now confirmed its engineers are assessing the damage.

A spokesperson told this paper the utilities firm was hoping to repair the burst main “as soon as possible.”

They said: “We are aware of the burst water main and our leakage team is currently assessing the best method of repair.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and aim to repair the main as soon as possible.”
