The A36 Warminster Road in Wiltshire is to reopen for a period of just over three weeks.

The temporary reopening of the stretch between Monkton Combe and Limpley Stoke will allow Wiltshire Council to carry out essential highway maintenance and resurfacing work on the A350 at Westbury.

A National Highways spokesperson said: “The A36 will open at approximately 8pm Friday October 18.

"It will then stay open over the half-term break and close again on the evening of Sunday, November 10 at approximately 21:00.  You may still notice us working in the area during this time.

“Due to the damage to the southern embankment, there will be two-way traffic lights in place to keep everyone safe. However, the road will be open to all traffic, but not pedestrians, the footpath will remain closed.”

Traffic management arrangements will return exactly as they are currently from Sunday, November 10.

The closure of the entrance to Lower Stoke and the ANPR camera will be in place from 7am on the morning of Monday, November 11.

The government agency closed the road on August 12 to stabilise the embankment on the southbound carriageway after cracks started to appear on the road from subsidence.
