Heavy rain has been forecast for large parts of Wiltshire after a yellow weather warning was issued in the Southwest.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain which covers large parts of the Southwest, including Bath and Bristol.

It will last from 6pm on Tuesday, October 15, until midday on Wednesday, October 16.

While the warning does not cover the vast majority of Wiltshire, the Met Office is still predicting heavy rain to fall in the county during the evening of Tuesday, October 15.

In towns and villages stretching from Trowbridge up to Swindon, rain is expected to fall from 7pm onwards with heavy rain forecast between 9pm and 11pm.

Anybody travelling from Wiltshire into the area affected by the weather warning has been warned to expect “travel disruption and flooding in places”.

The Met Office says that spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, while there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services if flooding does occur.

A spokesperson also warned that there is a chance of power cuts, loss of services, and flooding of homes and businesses.
