Police are cracking down on shoplifters at Swindon’s Designer Outlet and retail parks around the town.

Officers from the Stratton, Central Swindon North and West Swindon Neighbourhood Policing Teams were at Greenbridge Retail Park on Monday, October 14.

They were deployed to speak to retailers about shoplifting as part of Safer Business Action Week, which has sparked a crackdown on shoplifters around the county.

On Tuesday, October 15, officers will be at Swindon Designer Outlet between noon and 3pm carrying out patrols and speaking to businesses to try and prevent thefts from shops at the centre.

During their visits to some of Swindon’s busiest shopping areas, police have urged members of the public to report incidents of shoplifting to both store staff and the police.

PC Geroge said: “Shoppers are encouraged to report shoplifting to both shop staff members and the police if they witness it happening.”

PC Cowley added: “It’s important that we all help by speaking out and alerting staff and Police.

“Staff can monitor anything suspicious and react by following processes to help reduce theft.

“This can be done by calling 101 or online using our online crime reporting tool.”
