A Conservative Party town and Wiltshire councillor has announced he is to step down at the local elections in May 2025.

Cllr Antonio Piazza, who represents the Drynham ward on Trowbridge Town Council and Wiltshire Council, has decided not to seek re-election following a recent promotion at work.

Cllr Piazza, 29, who lives in Trowbridge, is a civil servant. He has recently been promoted from project support officer to project manager.

In a message to residents, he said: “After much careful thought, I have decided not to seek re-election in the upcoming local elections next year.

“Representing the community where I was raised has been one of the greatest honours of my life, and I am deeply proud of what we have achieved together.”

“I was first elected to represent Drynham at the age of 24, and by the time my term ends, I will be 30.

“Over these years, I have committed myself fully to serving this community, and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience.

“However, due to a recent promotion in my professional life, I find myself unable to dedicate the time and energy to my role as councillor that it deserves. I believe the time has come for a new generation of leadership.”
