An update has been given on a huge water park site that is set to open in a neighbouring county.
Great Wolf Lodge is set to open in Chesterton near Bicester - an hour's drive from Swindon - after planning was approved in 2021.
The resort - which will be the first European resort - will bring a £200 million investment into the local area and create around 600 jobs to operate the resort.
American company Great Wolf Resorts (GWR) has now provided an update on the resort, which will be a 498-room hotel with themed rooms, featuring an indoor water park with twisty slides and a variety of pools.
A spokesperson told the Oxford Mail that developers have 'recently completed some infrastructure improvements' to the Chesterton site.
"The potential of bringing a Great Wolf Lodge indoor water park resort to families in the UK is exciting, and we’re exploring the best possible ways to bring our beloved family entertainment brand to this market," said the spokesperson.
"We recently completed some infrastructure improvements to the Chesterton site, and we continue to explore the potential for additional resorts within the UK to reach more families and provide our strongest entry into the market."
An opening date was not provided.
Great Wolf Lodge previously faced huge opposition from locals in Chesterton and surrounding parish councils who believed it would damage the environment and cause traffic problems.
The location due to its 'proximity to London' and between 'other major urban centres', as well as links to the motorway network.
