The “heartbroken” owners of one of a Wiltshire town’s most historic venues will leave the business at the start of 2025.
Simon and Carey Tesler, who took over Parade House in Trowbridge three years ago to prevent it being converted into housing, have announced they are stepping back from the event venue.
The pair have taken the “sad” decision to sell the Grade I listed Georgian townhouse to focus on their health.
The Fore Street property is available for £950,000 and is being marketed by Christie & Co.
Mr Tesler told this paper the pair were “gutted” to leave Parade House, but emphasised the time was right.

He said: “We are heartbroken and absolutely gutted, this was the last thing we wanted to do.
“But when you get to retirement age you have to look after your health and that’s the most important thing.”
In a statement, the Teslers added: “Running Parade House is a massive endeavour, and it continues to demand a huge investment of physical and emotional energy from us.
“We are now in our mid-sixties, and as some of you know, we have been battling with some serious health issues since the beginning of this year.
“As a result, it is with very great sadness that we have taken the enormously difficult decision that we must step back from Parade House at the beginning of 2025 to concentrate on our own personal health and family matters.”
During their time in charge, Mr and Mrs Tesler have overseen the “meteoric” growth of the business.
They first bought the property to protect its future, but this year it was named Wiltshire’s best event venue by Muddy Stilettos and has won numerous other awards.

Mr Tesler hopes a buyer can be found by the start of 2025 to continue this success.
He said: “From a standing start we’ve managed to achieve some fantastic things, and we hope that will continue when we’re gone.”
The couple added: “We are so proud of the meteoric growth of Parade House over the last three years, and exceptionally proud of our fantastic team.
“We hope to find a buyer who will love Parade House as much as we do, and who has the energy and expertise to take it to the next level as a luxurious events venue.”
Mr Tesler says there has already been “really good interest” in the venue.
The “packed” line-up of events for the rest of 2024 will go ahead as planned, as the owners “go out with a bang.”
