A horse has been killed following a collision with a car near Swindon.
Emergency services were called to the incident on Monday morning around 8:15am in Lambourn after a grey Volkswagen Polo struck the horse and its rider.
The horse sustained serious injuries and was later put down, while the driver of the Polo was uninjured.
Police are still investigating the crash and have issued an appeal for witnesses to contact them with information that could help their enquiries.
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that we are investigating a road traffic collision occurred at around 8:15am on Monday (30/9) involving a grey VW Polo and a horse in Lambourn.
"The driver of the Golf was not injured, but tragically, the horse sustained injuries which led to it being put down by a local vet.
"Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call 101, quoting reference 43240469386."
