Councillors are set to discuss an application for a children’s care home in Upton Scudamore, a village north of Warminster.

The plans would see Temple Farm provide safe accommodation for up to four young people, with three members of staff being present during the day and two members of staff sleeping at the property overnight.

Upton Scudamore Parish Council has objected to the plans, claiming that the large proportion of elderly residents in the village would mean that the children would be “isolated” and effectively in “lockdown”.

The applicant, New Day Children's Services, has said it will be looking after children with a history of trauma or abuse.

The application read: “Our children’s home will run like any other family home and we have significantly considered its location to the benefit of the children that will live here, we believe that our children deserve to be able to live in the safe and beautiful village of Upton Scudamore.”

The western area planning committee will debate the plans at its next meeting on Wednesday, October 9.
