Wiltshire Council has advised that residents consider fitting property level flood protection if they are aware that their homes are at risk of flooding.
This comes after heavy rainfall caused flooding across the county in September, with concern that the winter weather will bring further issues.
Residents in Calne impacted by the rain received confirmation that Wiltshire Council was not due a new delivery of sandbags until Tuesday, October 8.

The council has now advised that solutions such as demountable floor barriers could prove more effective.
Cllr Nick Holder, cabinet member for highways, said: “We work hard to prevent flooding with an annual maintenance programme of emptying over 60,000 gullies each year undertaken by three gully tankers, and we also have three high pressure jetting units that are deployed reactively when we receive with reports from our communities and town and parish councils.
“The council does have a stock of sandbags for use where there is a threat of flooding to critical infrastructure, such as schools, care homes and hospitals.
“Where owners are aware that their property may be at risk of flooding, we would advise people to consider fitting property level flood protection.
“Demountable flood barriers fitted across doorways can provide a far more effective solution than sandbags.”
