The owner of a prominent town centre hotel is set to retire with the venue on the market for £1.8 million.
The Peppermill Hotel on St John’s Street in Devizes has been run by Philip and Amanda O’Shea since 2012.
But the pair’s 12-year stint at the popular town centre venue looks set to come to an end after they announced their retirement.
Reflecting on his time at the hotel, which recently opened a refurbished bar serving tapas and pizza, Philip was proud of the expansion of the business during the last decade.

He said: “We purchased the property 12 years ago and have thrown our heart and soul into building it into the business that it now is.
“We’re really proud that we’ve been able to expand by adding more letting accommodation as well as establishing our own wine bar and award-winning restaurant, as well as creating a function room space for guests to celebrate the major events in their life, including weddings.
“Having worked hard to achieve all this we now know that this is the right time for us to retire.
“We’re hoping we can pass on our local, successful business to someone who has the same passion and dedication for hospitality and will become part of the community of Devizes.”
The most recent investment at the hotel saw The Tap at The Peppermill open in February.
At the time, Philip spoke of his pride that the business was continuing to expand during a difficult time for independents.
Estate agent Colliers is now marketing the venue for £1.8 million.

“Its ideal location in the town centre cements the expectation that the business will continue its strong trading under new stewardship.”
Colliers says The Peppermill currently generates an annual turnover of more than £1 million.
As well as the newly refurbished bar area, it boasts 16 bedrooms, a 68-cover restaurant, and function rooms.
The venue has been given a five-star rating and received two AA rosettes for its contemporary British menu.
