Wiltshire vet practice set to open new branch in town

Chalkland Vets was established in Chippenham by Selina Walters and her business partner Philly in 2019.

Since growing their first practice on New Road, the pair have added locations in Corsham, Melksham, and now Calne.

The Calne branch is due to open on Monday, September 30, at the Lower Beversbrook Industrial Estate on Redman Road.

Ms Walters said she was excited at the prospect of opening another location in Wiltshire.

Selina Walters and Philly of Chalkland Vets in Wiltshire (Image: Chalkland Vets) She said: “We’re very excited, this site gives us good flexibility and there has been space for us to carve it out exactly how we want it.

“We’ve been going for five years now, and Chippenham is our main clinic but the building is Grade II listed and this gives us more room.

“It’s a beautiful space and we’re expanding our services here, there’s an awful lot of work still to do but we’ll be ready.”

Work is currently ongoing at the Calne branch ahead of opening, with the finishing touches currently being completed.

Chalkland Vets specialises in small animals including cats, dogs, and rabbits, but will also see more exotic animals like birds and reptiles.

Ms Walters believes the practice has proved popular in Wiltshire because the team tries to focus on providing care that “people can trust.”

“We treat every animal we see as if it’s our own.

“Our slogan is care you can trust and we really do stand by that.”

The practice tries to achieve this by creating a “warm and friendly environment” where both owners and pets feel welcome.

Ms Walters has been working in the industry for 22 years but decided to set up an independent practice with her business partner several years ago.

She said: “Philly and I worked together in our previous job, but we didn’t like the ethics from above.

“So we decided to open our own clinic and it’s the best thing we ever did, we love it so much.

“You can make decisions quickly and we can be reactive and forward thinking which helps us to set a high standard.”
