National Trust: Roman Villa set to host Roman crafts weekend

Chedworth Roman Villa, in Gloucestershire, will host the event on September 28 and 29, offering a look into the world of Roman craftsmanship.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the art of mosaic-making, comparing ancient techniques with modern methods.

"Visitors will experience the joy of piecing together intricate designs, the mindfulness that comes with focused craftsmanship, and the satisfaction of learning about the techniques used by Roman mosaicists."

Visitors will also see ancient jewellery making, metal working, and weaving demonstrations.

Kerrie Venner, a weaver who is set to take part in the event, said: "Weaving in the Roman style requires patience, skill, and a deep appreciation for artistry.

The family-friendly event will run from 11am to 4pm each day, with entry to the villa from 10am to 4.30pm.

Normal admission charges apply, with free entry for National Trust members, and no booking is required.
