A Wiltshire road has been closed due to flooding as heavy rain continues across the county with a weather alert in place.
Signs have been erected on the B3098 Westbury Road near Erlestoke, between Westbury and Great Cheverell after the road was submerged rendering it impassable.
The AA reports: “Road blocked due to flooding on B3098 Westbury Road both ways from Stoke Hill Farm turning to Coulston turn off. Traffic is coping well.”

This newspaper’s photographer has visited the scene to find that the road has been closed by the police.
It comes after an amber weather warning was issued by the Met Office, upgraded from a yellow for greater severity and likelihood of flooding.

Meanwhile, flood warnings are in place in areas of Wiltshire. One warning area crosses the Westbury Road near to the flooded area.
Met Office advice states: “Prepare to avoid travelling by road during potentially dangerous road conditions. If you must travel, ensure you watch for possible danger and drive cautiously.
“It is not safe to drive, walk or swim through floodwater, avoid it where possible and if you are affected by fast-flowing or deep-water call 999, and wait for help.”
