A Wiltshire A-road will close next month for “urgent” patching works while several other closures have also been announced.

At a planning committee meeting on Thursday, September 12, Chippenham Town Council was notified of several road closures approved by Wiltshire Council that will affect the town over the coming months.

This includes the closure of the A4 Bath Road into Chippenham on Wednesday, October 30 to allow “urgent bobcat patching works” to take place.

The road will be shut to traffic for one night, between 7pm and midnight, from the roundabout with the B4643 near the Rowden Arms, to the entrance to B&Q.

The night before these works will see the stretch of Avenue La Fleche linking the A4 to London Road, between the Lidl roundabout and the Three Crowns roundabout, closed for a night.

This will allow more urgent patching work which will take place from 8pm to midnight.

A lengthier road closure that may affect drivers is Ladyfield Road, between Hungerdown Lane and Sheldon Road.

This will come into force on Monday, October 14 and is scheduled to last until Monday, October 28.

The closure will be required between the hours of 7am and 7pm on these days while resurfacing works are completed.
