A new café has opened in Wiltshire’s county town selling oriental dishes created by a chef who is from Hong Kong.

Shu Lung Wong, who goes by the British name Colby, has opened the Tailor-made Café in St George’s Works just off Silver Street.

Colby, 52, said: “It has been a slow start with only about five or six customers, but I’m hoping that business will pick up.”

The former legal executive, whose parents were also in hospitality, moved to the UK in 2015 after previously living in Hong Kong and Canada.

He has been working as a legal executive but says cooking is his passion, after having learned how to cook at the age of eight.

“When I came to the UK, I started watching the Bake-Off television programmes and now I’m quite a good baker,” he said.

Colby will be serving customers with a range of street food oriental dishes including Cantonese style soup noodles and broth.

He also bakes home-made cakes, pastries and cookies, and will be making salads, sandwiches and dishes of the day for the café.

Colby also sings tenor with three choirs, the West Wiltshire Singers, the Trowbridge Town Singers and the Bath City Singers.
