Bradford on Avon Town Council has been forced to postpone its Skate Jam event scheduled for Saturday, September 7 because of the wet weather.
The council said it was “disappointed” about the decision but that a wet skate park and muddy surrounds would not have been enjoyable for competitors or spectators.
A council spokesperson said: “We're sad to report that because of the wet weather and muddy ground around the skatepark, we’re postponing tomorrow’s Skate Jam.
“We know this is disappointing but a rain-soaked jam just won’t be the same.
“And even if tomorrow's weather is okay the areas around the skatepark are still likely to be very wet and muddy.
“We're working with everyone involved to find new dates and will post an update as soon as possible.”
Council officers inspected the skatepark at Poulton Park on Friday morning before making the decision to postpone.
The Skate Jam is an annual event that takes place at the Bradford on Avon Skate Park in Poulton Park. The event is open to skateboarders, scooterists, and BMX riders.
It would have featured live music, demonstrations, competitions and prizes for those taking part, as well as food and refreshments, and free merchandise.
