The speed limit on roads through a Wiltshire village will be lowered after complaints the area has become a “rat run.”
Wiltshire Council plans to enforce a new 30mph speed limit on West End and Hare Street in Foxham, just miles south of the M4.
The decision comes after a public consultation, which received no objections, sparked by concerns raised by Bremhill Parish Council.
Foxham is one of several villages in the parish where there have been community concerns over the speed of drivers using rural roads as diversions to avoid traffic on busier routes.

It is expected that signage will be installed, and the new speed limit will be enforced, by late October.
Cllr Nick Holder, cabinet member for highways, said: “The proposed speed limit changes to 30mph for West End and Hare Street in Foxham were advertised from June 27 to July 22 and no objections were received.
“These changes will now be implemented and we anticipate the works to install new speed limit signs will be undertaken by our contractor by late October, at which time the new speed limit will become enforceable.”
Once the changes have been implemented the speed limit on the routes, which are officially known as C118 and C111, will change from 40mph to 30mph to “avoid danger” to those using the roads.
