Police have been patrolling a Wiltshire town centre amidst concerns over shoplifting and anti-social behaviour.
Officers from the Warminster Neighbourhood Team have been tasked by area Police Inspector Oakley to conduct high visibility patrols in the town to respond to ongoing concerns from the public.
On Wednesday, August 28, officers carried out foot and mobile patrols in the town centre, patrolled specific retail stores in the area, and spoke to shop managers to gather intelligence and offer crime prevention advice.
During these patrols, residents reported issues including shoplifting and anti-social behaviour.
Officers are also working with Warminster Town Council, which operates both Shopwatch and Warminster and Westbury Town CCTV.
These organisations monitor CCTV in the two towns and report on any live incidents as they happen over the police radio.
CCTV recordings of any criminal offences are also produced as evidence and handed to police.
Businesses that are suffering from theft or anti-social behaviour offences have been urged to report the issues to police by calling 999 during an ongoing incident or 101 for previous incidents.
Crime can also be reported using Wiltshire Police’s online Crime Reporting Portal.
