A domestic abuse charity is looking for volunteers to help open its first retail outlet at the Gateway shopping mall in Trowbridge.

FearFree Wiltshire is a nationally accredited charity delivering support services to adults and young people experiencing the trauma of domestic abuse, sexual violence and victims of stalking.

It has taken on a huge new space in the former Argos outlet at Gateway which has been vacant for the past three years following its relocation to the Sainsbury’s superstore in British Row in 2021.

Now the charity is appealing for help from businesses, residents and anyone able to help paint and fit out its new store.

Charity spokesperson Sarah Launder said: “Please tag and share anyone who may be able to help and let’s turn this blue and red beast into a gorgeous Orange and Purple FearFree boutique.”

FearFree is particularly appealing for donations of white, orange and purple paint, paint brushes and rollers, plus preloved retail fittings, indoor chairs and tables, and help to install them.

It is also looking for volunteers who can give up a few hours a day to help paint, as well as a carpenter who would be happy to volunteer time.
