Over a dozen drivers were caught speeding through a Wiltshire village by police.
Officers from the Corsham Neighbourhood Team were waiting for speeding vehicles in Neston, near Corsham, on Tuesday, August 13.
During a morning of speed checks, 17 drivers were stopped by police and given words of advice due to breaking the 20mph speed limit.
Another driver was issued a traffic offence report for excessive speeding.
A spokesperson for the force said: “The team was in Neston this morning carrying out speed checks.
“17 vehicles were stopped and given words of advice in relation to their speed, and one was given a traffic offence report for excess speed in a 20mph zone.
“Neston is a 20mph zone, please ensure you adhere to the limit.”
Officers explained that while the other 17 drivers were breaking the speed limit, the level of speeding was not enough to warrant further action.
They were instead given “education” by police at the roadside.
The spokesperson added: “We appreciate some people will wonder why we haven't issued those 17 drivers the same report, and we hear you.
“However as a neighbourhood team, it's our job to also engage, explain and educate drivers that are speeding, but not to a speed that warrants a traffic report which is set by the officer conducting the checks.”
