MORE announcements are expected soon about businesses moving into Trowbridge town centre as the local economy picks up.
Multiple units are available to lease at the Castle Place shopping centre, where it is understood an offer has been made on the former McColls convenience store at the front entrance to Market Street.
Castle Place owner Tahir Ali, said: “We are actually getting ready to make a couple of announcements.
“Primarily, we have been working hard on the large units. We are trying to get the big one into legals.
“I will be back next week and am due to pop down and meet with the agents.
“We have got a convenience store that is taking the front unit and there are three other smaller units that we are looking at as well.”
Development opportunities in the town centre include Bridge House on Stallard Street, a handsome 9,178 square feet building near Trowbridge Railway Station, which is up for sale at £1.5 million.
The freeholds of Bank House on Fore Street and the former Little Earth restaurant at 66 Fore Street are also available for sale through commercial agents Carter Jonas.
Kez Garner, chair of Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce said: “We look forward to announcing lots more great new businesses opening in our town centre over the next few weeks and months.

“Also available soon is a ready-made grooming salon at 41 Roundstone Street.”
Trowbridge Town Council leader Stewart Palmen said: “Some great properties for sale in town. I hope they all go to people who will use them to improve the town.”
Properties to let in The Shires shopping centre include the former Poundland store at Units 6-8, at 8,485 sq ft (788 sq metres) one of the largest retail spaces available.
They also include the former Greggs store at Unit 38, the former Planet Games store at Unit 20, and the former Body Shop store at Unit 29.
The Intermezzo kiosk outside the Fore Street entrance to The Shires is already under offer and likely to be soon occupied by a new business.
If you are looking to open a small business in Trowbridge, space may be available at the new Microshops area of The Shires from £80 rent per week inclusive of bills.
Other rental opportunities at £9,000 a year include a 671 sq ft unit (62.36 sq m) at the entrance to Trowbridge station including two car parking spaces.
Two former betting shops are also available to lease. They are the William Hill betting shop at 22 Fore Street at £18,000 a year, and the Coral betting shop in a historic town centre building at 57-58 Fore Street at £20,000 a year.
The former BHF building in the centre of Fore Street, consists of 1,922 sq ft of prime ground floor retail space, is still available.
Meanwhile, the former M&Co retail store at 2-3 Silver Street is being divided into three smaller units with rentals between £12,000 and £15,500 a year.
In St George’s Works, off Silver Street, attractive courtyard units are available and it is fast becoming an artisan quarter.
Up to 7,793 sq ft of ground floor space with 12 allocated car parking spaces is available at the former Monahans offices at Fortescue House in Court Street.
There is a 1,500 sq ft industrial unit available in Canal Road at £16,000 a year, and there are several units available on the White Horse Business Park.
