A major A-road is closed near the Wiltshire border following a serious crash involving multiple vehicles.
At around 7.20pm on Monday, August 12, National Highways confirmed that the A303 was shut westbound near the county, following an earlier incident.
The road closure remains in place between the A371 at Wincanton and the A359 near Sparkford at the time of writing.
The crash took place in Somerset, just a few miles west of Wiltshire, and National Highways says multiple vehicles were involved.
Emergency services have since been working at the scene, including police, paramedics, and fire crews.
Drivers have been warned there are delays in the area as a result of the crash and subsequent closure.
Road users are advised to use the following diversion route and follow the hollow square diversion symbol on road signs.
- Exit the A303 and take the 1st exit and follow the A371
- Continue along the A371 until you reach the junction with the A359
- Turn left on to the A359 and continue along until you reach the A359/A303 roundabout at Sparkford.
- At the roundabout take the 2nd exit and re-join the A303 westbound.
