A young man has been arrested after weapons - including a sword - and large quantities of drugs were found in a raid.

A search of an address in Clifton Close, Chippenham on August 8 found “a large quantity” of class A and B drugs as well as a baton and Katana, and materials to grow cannabis. Another police source added that thousands of pounds of cash were also found.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and weapon offences.

Officers from Chippenham, Calne and Corsham's Neighbourhood Policing Team, Response and Local Policing Tasking Team executed a drugs warrant with help from the dog section.

The suspect was taken to Melksham custody for questioning and has since been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.

PC Paul Croft said: “Warrants of this nature are often made possible thanks to the intelligence provided to us from the local community and we would urge anybody concerned about drug supply in their neighbourhood to contact us immediately.(Image: Wiltshire Police)

“We know that drug supply is often associated with violence, weapons and other criminality and it can have a particularly negative impact on a neighbourhood.

“We hope news of this warrant provides reassurance to local residents that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.”
