Bradford United renewed acquaintances with Steeple Ashton and just managed to come out on top, thanks to a first half goal from Elliott Hinton.
Ashton started poorly and it was no surprise when Bradford took the lead when a free kick was headed on by Barnett into the chest of Hinton and the ball rolled into the Ashton net.
Mortimer had a shot from 25 yards which went high and wide and the same player shot wide again when put through by Sam Stevens.
Bradford's Sam Kyd had a great first half, marking Ashton's Gumm out of the game.
In the second half Hindle won the ball and found Mortimer whose shot was well saved by Weale and then Dean Gumm shot wide after good work by Mortimer.
It was not a good day for Ashton who played well below their best despite a fine defensive performance by Mark Barnett.
