A Westbury woman is to represent the UK at a beauty pageant world final after being awarded a sponsored place.
Lyndsay Brown, 44, will compete in the Miss British Empire World Finals taking place at The Brickmakers music venue in Norwich on Saturday, September 21.
She will be competing against three other Mrs contestants and says she is “quietly confident” about winning.
She has also been preliminarily selected to compete for the Miss World Universal title in Phuket, Thailand, in June 2025.
Lyndsay, from Bremeridge Road, Westbury, is a size 20 contestant who has previously campaigned for body confidence in beauty pageant finals nationally.
She said: “I just love the competitions. It’s just a great atmosphere. Everyone is very lovely.
“I am excited about the opportunities for both competitions because they are my first world finals.”
Lindsay now works as a software developer for the British Computer Society in Swindon and said her interest in beauty pageants stems from her commitment to promote positive body image.
“I think my story is inspirational for women of a certain size and age to let them know that they are only defined by themselves and what they choose to do or be.”
Last year, Lyndsay was named overall winner of the Miss British Empire Grand Supreme beauty pageant title.
“I got the highest score out of all the contestants and was 11 points clear of the contestant in second place,” she said.
She was named Miss KPA International in the curve category in a pageant organised the by the Kerri Parker Academy.
She was also the Mrs Catwalk Model of the Year for KPA in 2023, and is one of two contestants from the UK to be selected to accompany Kerri Parker to the Miss World Universal final in Thailand.
Three years ago Lyndsay was one of five finalists in the Miss Diamond Curve UK pageant in August 2021 at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Southport.
The annual event was postponed from 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. She helped raise £20,000 for the Samaritans to highlight mental health issues.
She also took part in a ‘I am Me’ walk in London in September 2021 as part of a campaign by one of her pageant sisters to raise funds for the Alzheimer's charity.
She has previously competed in the Miss Voluptuous UK, Warrior Pageant and Miss Regal World pageants celebrating women’s beauty and diversity.
