Police in Warminster have appealed for information following a theft from a vehicle at the car park at a Wiltshire beauty spot.
They have also warned motorists parking next to Shearwater Lake and other beauty spots to lock their vehicles and make sure no valuables are left on display.
The theft happened at Shearwater between 3.30pm and 3.40pm on Friday, July 26 when the front passenger window was smashed and a handbag was stolen.
Police said: “We would like to hear from anyone with any information which might assist in our investigation.
“If you were in the area of the theft that day and witnessed anything suspicious, or you have any CCTV, mobile phone or dash cam footage, please call 101 and quote incident number 54240087665.”
They added: “Please remember that thieves operate in our rural beauty spots. Do not leave any items of interest on display when you park your vehicle. Neighbourhood officers have increased patrols in the area.
“Over the last week we have received reports of vehicles broken into at Shearwater. We know how popular beauty spots can be, particularly during the hot weather.
“Unfortunately, this also causes an increase in criminals targeting these areas looking for things to steal."
