More than 50 new homes could be built on the edge of Malmesbury if Wiltshire Council approve an outline planning application submitted by Hollins Strategic Land.
The plans propose 55 homes to be constructed beside Sherston Road, on the south western outskirts of the town.
According to the outline planning application, the development would offer a mix of house types and sizes capable of meeting local needs.”
The plans state: “The site offers an excellent opportunity to create a successful gateway to Malmesbury.
“Currently, the site in its condition and the Parklands estate do not offer a sense of arrival or context when travelling along Sherston Road into the town.
“The proposed development can offer a positive addition to the west of Malmesbury and gateway between the town and the Cotswold National Landscape.”
A consultation is being held until the end of August, during which residents’ comments will be taken into account.
Wiltshire Council is expected to make a decision by Tuesday, October 29.
