Revised plans to expand a care home on the outskirts of Trowbridge are due to be considered by the council.
A decision will be made on the future of Staverton House care home at an upcoming planning meeting.
The applicant, Fidelia Care, submitted a revised application after plans to replace the building with a larger facility were refused by Wiltshire Council in 2023.
It had caused controversy, with neighbours objecting to the size of the new development and the demolition of the Old Vicarage, which had been a part of the care facility until it closed.
Wiltshire Council’s decision was appealed but later upheld.
Now, the new plans still suggest the demolition of the 160-year-old building but claim to have addressed the appeal dismissal grounds.
These changes include a reconfiguration of the layout and a change in footprint.
However, the report set to be presented to councillors indicates that these alterations may not have been enough.
The case officer notes: “Whilst the proposal is an overall improvement when compared to the appealed scheme, when tested against the appeal dismissed grounds, the harmful impacts identified by the planning inspector pursuant to No 6 Littlebrook would remain.”
The western area planning committee will make its decision on Wednesday, August 7.
