A driver has been seriously injured after a car crashed through a wall of a farm building in Wiltshire.

The incident happened on Tuesday, July 23 when police responded to reports of a crash involving a vehicle colliding with a wall on Hawkeridge, Westbury, at around 11.20pm.

A Wiltshire police spokesperson said: “The driver, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries thought to be life- changing.”

The owner of the historic Storridge Farmhouse and since said the driver who crashed through the wall of one of his farm outbuildings was “lucky to get out alive”.

Shaun May, 62, was called out at nearly midnight after hearing that a vehicle had crashed into the outbuilding in Storridge Road.

Photos show that the crash caused severe damage to the building.

Sean is converting outbuilding next to the Grade II listed farmhouse into seven holiday cottages which he hopes to rent out next summer.

He has already completed five of the seven cottages and was close to completing the last two when the crash happened.

May told a Wiltshire Times reporter he was alerted to the crash by a friend and when he arrived at the scene he saw the extent of the damage.

The driver, who is understood to be in his 30s, was taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries following the crash at 11.20pm.
