A Wiltshire Carpetright store has shut its doors for good after the national chain entered administration amidst “challenging trading conditions.”

The troubled retailer entered administration on Monday, July 22, before rival Tapi completed a rescue deal to buy the firm.

Despite this, 1,000 jobs will be cut as part of plans to close more than 200 stores across the country.

This includes the Devizes branch on New Park Street, which has now shut its doors for the final time.

A sign has been posted on the shopfront of the store informing customers of the sudden closure.

It said: “Due to challenging trading conditions, on July 22 2024 the directors resolved to put Carpetright Limited in administration.

“The directors have appointed Zelf Hussain, Rachael Wilkinson and Peter Dickens of PwC as joint administrators of Carpetright Limited.

“As a result of the administration, this store has been closed.

“We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you.”

The administrators said orders made at stores now set for closure “are unable to be fulfilled” and recommended customers to contact their card provider in order to potentially secure a refund.

Carpetright will continue to trade in Chippenham, Swindon, and Trowbridge.
