Celebrations for the centenary of the Warminster’s Lake Pleasure Grounds on Friday evening (July 26) are sold out, say organisers.

The town council has booked two musical acts to launch the celebrations, which will also feature a aerial firework display at 9pm.

The Elton John tribute act Forever Elton will start the celebrations from 5pm before a Beatles Tribute act – The Beatles with an A, who will be performing at 7.30pm.

Warminster’s Mayor, Cllr Stacie Allensby, said: “We are delighted to have booked some great musical acts – with the Warminster Park Centenary celebrations set to be another big event that brings the town together. We can’t wait to celebrate 100 years of the park with everyone.”

The celebrations are all ticketed to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all and anyone who doesn’t intend to use the tickets they have booked is being urged to cancel them so that others can book and attend

The council said: “If you won’t use the tickets you have booked, please cancel your tickets via Eventbrite (https://bit.ly/3KuxC5I)  to help us ensure that as many people as possible can attend the event. Limited tickets will then be available online.”

“If you already have your ticket please check you can access your ticket prior to entering the event tomorrow.”

The day is set to finish with a pyrotechnic plane display from Airborne Pyrotechnics, lighting up the sky from 9pm. The pyrotechnic planes should be visible from most of Warminster, for everyone to enjoy.

Other features of the event will be 1920s themed fairground-type games – along the lake side past the boat house. These will be free to use from 4pm.

There will be food and drink vendors across the park as well as The Pavilion Café open to provide refreshments.

The council added: “Residents are encouraged to walk to the event (if possible), as there will be strictly no parking in the Lake Pleasure Grounds due to safety reasons. However, there will be parking available at Wiltshire Council car parks around Warminster.

“Visitors are welcome to bring their own chairs and picnic blankets to spread out around the park and enjoy the celebrations from various points across the Lake Pleasure Grounds, however chairs and picnic blankets must not block paths.”

The council has advised that noise levels during the event are expected to exceed 96dB.
