Historic handrail pieces worth around £5,000 have been stolen from a repair company in Westbury.
The alleged theft happened on the evening of Tuesday, July 9 when the pieces went missing from the yard of Advanced Metal Treatments, in Engineers Road, on the West Wilts Trading Estate.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “The six sections of railing were valued at approximately £5,000 and are of historical significance as they date from the 18th century and had been removed from Hurst Castle, Hampshire, for repair and refurbishment.
“The railings have 25mm uprights that are very corroded in places and the top handrail bar is 40mmx20mm half-round. They have been made to go up stairs, as can be seen in the photo of them at Hurst Castle.
“West Wilts Trading Estate has many businesses that may use CCTV and we would ask them, especially within Engineer Road, to check for any unusual activity on the evening of 9 July.”
If you have any information about who stole these items or know of their whereabouts, report it to police and quote reference 54240084597.
